Dr. Michael Toews

Research Overview

I direct an applied research program based on developing ecologically based strategies for sustainable pest management of cotton insect pests.  Our primary model system is the southern green stink bug, but we also work with other stink bugs, thrips, whiteflies, and the bollworm/tobacco budworm complex.  Current research projects include aspects of insect behavior, sampling, monitoring, population ecology, basic biology, and movement within the farmscape.

Extension Overview

I also have a minor Extension appointment to address grain and legume storage issues and insect management in food processing facilities.
